Maniitsoq is a small island off the South-West of Greenland. An airport was built in the summer of 1999 which allows us easy access to this island by airplane. There, we have met welcoming inuits and thanks to a comfortable hotel our accommodations are perfect. A modern hospital on the island ensures our safety. .

The mountainous area is from sea level up to 1,700 m in altitude, and the highest point of the Evighedsfjord (“Fjord of eternity”) is over 2,000 m. The vertical drop varies from 600 to 1,500 m (4,500 ft).
The season lasts from mid April to early June with great powder snow conditions the majority of the time and spring snow the rest of the time. From mid May, there is day light for almost 24hours and it is therefore possible to ski … night and day. Vegetation is sparse in Greenland, therefore no possibility to ski in the trees. The area benefits from stable coastal snow pack , with low avalanche risk.

In the inuit language “Maniitsoq” means “uneven”. This small town of 3000 inhabitants, located on the island by the same name, is the base for our expeditions in Greenland. Maniitsoq is surrounded by the highest and wildest mountains on the Western coast of Greenland and provides us with limitless skiing possibilities. Generally, the ski descents take place on neighbouring islands and on the vast long slopes of the fjords to the north east of Maniitsoq. We will be skiing all the way down to the beach! You will be overwhelmed by panoramas that will take your breath away of the ocean and of glacier covered islands.
Amongst the other activities available in the area, there are boat excursions, snowmobiling, in bad weather there may be the option of ski touring (with skins), discovery of the wilderness, birds cliffs and whale watching, fishing as well as sea kayaking.
